A calorie controlled diet ruined my relationship with food and sent me into a never ending cycle of seeking comfort through the one thing I was trying to avoid – the food itself.

Post relationship break-up I was consumed by emotion and believed that changing my weight and appearance would make me more attractive, happy and good enough. The goal? To look amazing in the dress I bought for my 18th birthday.

After restricting myself for this goal I finally caved to the food that I had been avoiding for so long. This indulgence become linked to pleasure, relief and comfort. My first diet taught me restriction, limitation and unhealthy habits.
