When you look in the mirror do you focus on the good bits or the bad bits? Are your eyes and mind drawn to all the parts you want to change? Think about it. What do you do when you look in the mirror?
And why is this important? Because it will tell you a lot about where you are choosing to put your focus. Time and time again in the programs I run with my clients, women will say to me, ‘ I just feel so bad about myself when I look in the mirror.’ So I ask them, ‘well what are you focusing on and what are you saying to yourself?’
Every time I get a similar response, ‘well I notice how fat my thighs looks, how flabby my belly is, how big my arms look and then I feel really bad about myself, feel disappointed, ugly and like a failure.’
Well there’s no wonder that looking in the mirror is such a bad experience for you! Choosing to focus on the negatives, or what you perceive to be the negatives, is a choice. You need to shift your focus if you want to get results!
Your mind will not respond to or be motivated to change when you are focusing on these negatives. You need to be positive. When your mind is in a positive place and is positively motivated you will be unstoppable and will reach your goals so much easier.
Stand in front of the mirror and make a conscious effort to focus on the positives and only the positives. Tell yourself in your head that you love your body, you know that you are improving and that you are well on your way to achieving your goals. Do this every day. If you catch yourself being negative, stop it instantly and return to positive thoughts.
Notice what a difference this makes to the way you think about yourself and your daily mirror experience. Choose to have positive days, full of positive thoughts. When your mind is in a positive place only great things can happen!
